Welcome to the Banking on the Martyrs – something that has steadily grown legs over the past 5 months and it now officially online. Will it be well received? Will it last? Only time will tell……..

Probably like a lot of people, I would always watch my team (Cardiff City being a Cardiff lad), then over the following days would read the match report, watch soccer sunday(!) and talk about it with my mates until the following week. With Merthyr now my adopted hometown (and has been for the past 16 years), I am a season ticket holder along with my daughter and have been for the past couple of years.

I enjoy the great content that is pushed out by fans & the club (big shout out to the Dial M Fanzine and Podcast for the inspiration) but for some reason I always wanted to revert back to reading a match report after the game. I finally decided to give it a go, I mean, how hard could it be?! Famous last words……….

Fast forward to our first game in the NLN in August 2025 and I took the plunge with my first report. Not great by any means but it was a start and the reports have been received well (mostly) and are now included in the matchday programme. I needed a place to store the match reports (hence here) but will also be pulling together some wider articles as and when on anything and everything Merthyr related. Watch this space!
